Zombie Love Art exists because circus arts changed my life, and I think they can change other people's too.
When I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2016, I was terrified of what my future would look like. But instead of letting life just happen to me, I went looking for a way to fight for it. Aerial arts didn't just make me stronger physically; the community I found has made me stronger mentally and emotionally too. Circus people are some of the most welcoming, strong, unique, authentic humans I've ever met. It's a community where you don't have to mask, where your weirdest side isn't just tolerated, it's celebrated.
That's what Zombie Love Art is here to share. Not just performance, but that feeling of really belonging. Come as you are, show off your strange, and be celebrated for it.
Meet the Glitter Gremlins
Pee-Wee’s Playgirl
Pee-wee’s Playgirl has been keeping the burlesque scenes of northern Colorado and Portland, ME weird since 2018. She performs on multiple aerial apparatuses, dances on chairs, and sometimes plays with fire. Catch her bringing all the X-emnail nostalgia to the stage with acts portraying Axl Rose, Brak, and her beloved Pee-Wee Herman. And if you don’t want your pickle, she’ll eat it.
Mx. Pixie Stix
Through aerial, Mx. Pixie Stix has been able to find both a strong sense of self and a sense of character embodiment. They love personifying acts that range through expressions on and off the apparatuses. They incorporate exciting dynamic elements alongside purposeful sequences to really bring their characters to life. Mx. Pixie Stix also creates and customized most of her costumes herself and they definitely have a flair for the dramatic villain side of their acts. Mx. Pixie Stix started aerial arts in 2019 and began performing in 2021.
SweryTalePrincess
SweryTalePrincess has been performing since 2019, and is available for all your goofy, silly, and otherwise unserious performance needs! Aerial sling, partner Lyra, aerial net, acrobatics on folding chairs or with partners (or both!), neo-burlesque, themed performance, ambient performance, and if you need an emcee for a night, she's your gal! And she can even auctioneer for you if you ask nicely.
Zombie Love Art is still young. Right now it's just me, a rig, and a rotating crew of the most talented and kind people I know. We’re trying to build something that doesn’t exist yet: a real space for queer and alternative performers to tell their stories on their own terms.
That takes money. Rigging, insurance, venue costs, training, production. The unglamorous stuff that makes the glamorous stuff possible.
